ChatGPT is joining the wave of applications providing annual summaries for its users. It’s introducing a “Year in Review” feature that will display various statistics — such as the number of messages you sent to the chatbot in 2025 — and provide you with an AI-generated pixel art image that captures some of the conversations you had this year.
The image I received depicted an aquarium next to a game cartridge, an Instant Pot, and a computer monitor, representing some topics I discussed regarding retro gaming consoles, cooking, and my aquarium setup.
There are additional personalized summaries available, including an overview of the most prevalent themes in your conversations, insights into your communication style, and which day you sent the highest number of messages to the chatbot. You will also receive an “archetype” categorizing you based on your app usage this year, such as “The Producer” or “The Navigator,” along with a bespoke award, like the one I received: “Instant Pot Prodigy.”
These annual summaries are currently being made available to users in the US, UK, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. They can only be accessed if you’ve granted ChatGPT permission to look back at your previous conversations and personal preferences. To find your year in review, you can select the option on the homepage of the ChatGPT app on either mobile or desktop, or simply ask ChatGPT to “show my year in review.”
