On 7 January in Minneapolis, an ICE officer fatally shot 37-year-old Renee Good, while a Border Patrol agent shot and killed 37-year-old Alex Pretti on 24 January. These two incidents, along with the ongoing immigration operations in the state, have triggered protests nationwide. The latter shooting has prompted Democrats and some Republicans to oppose the approval of DHS funding.
