Prime Video unveils full trailer for Spider-Noir

If your spider-sense is prickling, it might be because Prime Video has posted the official full trailer for its forthcoming live-action series, Spider-Noir, at CCXPMX26 in Mexico City over the weekend. As with the first teaser in February, the streamer released two cuts of the trailer: a black-and-white version (above)—very Raymond Chandler in tone—and a color version (below) which the showrunners call “True Hue.”

As previously reported, Marvel Comics launched its “noir” line in 2009, recasting familiar Marvel figures in an alternate, Depression-era America. A Spider-Noir incarnation, voiced by Cage, briefly appears in the animated standouts Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse (2018) and Across the Spider-Verse (2023). He’s expected to return as that character in the upcoming Beyond the Spider-Verse.

Co-showrunner (with Steve Lightfoot) Oren Uziel is a fan of film noir, so that Marvel concept naturally drew him in. The live-action show remains set in 1930s New York, but its spider isn’t Peter Parker—Uziel felt Parker’s teen persona didn’t suit the noir mood. Instead, Cage plays Ben Reilly, a tough private investigator who secretly operates as a costumed vigilante known as The Spider. Per the official synopsis: “Spider-Noir tells the story of Ben Reilly (Nicolas Cage), a seasoned, down on his luck private investigator in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life, following a deeply personal tragedy, as the city’s one and only superhero.”
