Disabling access to the front-facing square camera sensor serves as a provisional measure.

Adobe’s computational photography application, Project Indigo, faced some issues adjusting to the novel square-format selfie sensor in the iPhone 17 lineup. For roughly the past month, the app hasn’t supported Apple’s newest devices whatsoever. Adobe has been diligently working behind the scenes to resolve the issues, providing occasional updates on the Adobe Community forums. Nonetheless, the company opted to completely disable access to the front-facing camera temporarily, to aid in the release of some version of Project Indigo with iPhone 17 compatibility.
The app launched back in June and quickly began attracting users who appreciated the gentler approach it provided for image processing, contrasting it with the standard iPhone camera application. However, the fresh sensors in the iPhone 17 series seemingly caused issues for Project Indigo. An update in iOS 26.1 will enable Adobe to reactivate selfie camera functionality, but currently, those with iPhone 17 devices are limited to using the rear camera only.
