The Dutch authorities, the RDW, revealed that after over 18 months of evaluation, it has given the green light to Tesla’s Full-Self Driving (FSD) Supervised. This makes the Netherlands the foremost European nation to give the nod for FSD operations on its terrain. This could pave the way for broader implementation across the EU. Tesla’s European headquarters is situated in Amsterdam, making it apt that the nation is first to adopt the company’s FSD.
As per a statement from the RDW regarding the approval, they indicated that, “Properly utilizing driver assistance technologies positively enhances road safety, as the driver receives support with their driving responsibilities; it acts as an aid to the driver. By continually monitoring the driver within the vehicle, this system is safer than other driver assistance technologies.”
The update introducing FSD Supervised (version 2026.3.6) has begun its rollout to a select group of users. Operators must watch a tutorial and complete a quiz prior to activating self-driving, underscoring that FSD Supervised “does not render your vehicle autonomous. Avoid complacency.”
