Rape trial places Norway’s royal family under an unwelcome spotlight of public attention

The four counts of rape originate from 2018, occurring at his family’s official residence on the Skaugum estate near Oslo, extending to November 2024, following his initial apprehension. One of these counts, from 2023, pertains to sexual intercourse with a woman who was asleep. The other three also involve sexual assaults against women who were incapacitated, which is similarly classified as rape in Norway.
