‘I have requested that every option be considered,’ UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer states.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer states that the nation will act against X in response to claims that the platform’s Grok AI chatbot is creating sexualized deepfakes involving both adults and minors, as reported previously by The Telegraph and Sky News.
”It’s revolting,” Starmer says during a chat with Greatest Hits Radio. “X must improve their operations and remove this content. We will take measures regarding this, as it is utterly unacceptable.”
Last month, X introduced a feature enabling users to edit any image on the platform via Grok without consent. This rollout led to a surge of AI deepfakes disrobing women and, in some cases, minors. “We will not tolerate this,” Starmer states. “I’ve made it clear that all options must be considered.”
The UK’s communications regulator, Ofcom, has initiated an investigation into whether X is breaching the Online Safety Act, which makes online platforms accountable for harmful content, Politico reported last week. “Depending on their response, we will carry out a quick evaluation to determine if there are compliance issues that require further investigation,” an Ofcom spokesperson informed Politico then.
X has stated that “any individual using or prompting Grok to produce illegal content will face the same repercussions as if they uploaded illegal content.” X did not promptly respond to The Verge’s request for remarks.
