If you accessed your Movies Anywhere account in recent days, you may have observed that certain titles have disappeared from your library, particularly those purchased on Google Play and YouTube. As of October 31st, films from these platforms are no longer accessible on Movies Anywhere.
This update was revealed on a concise help article on Movies Anywhere, which states simply: “Effective 10/31/25, Google Play/YouTube will no longer participate in the Movies Anywhere program.” There are no additional details regarding the rationale behind this split. It seems that films that were previously synced to Movies Anywhere from a Google account remain available, but new acquisitions cannot be integrated into the platform.
Google has not provided a comment in response to requests. Disney, the owner of Movies Anywhere, also did not immediately respond to inquiries.
Movies Anywhere has paired with Google Play since 2017, enabling users to view films acquired from Google Play or YouTube alongside those from other services. That integration concluded on the same day that multiple Disney-owned channels were taken off YouTube TV due to an ongoing contract renewal issue. Fortunately, you can continue to view your Google Play films on either YouTube or Google TV.
