According to Cook, Apple aims to ‘integrate’ with additional companies ‘over time.’

Tim Cook mentioned that Apple is gearing up to incorporate more third-party AI solutions into its operating systems. “Our objective is to integrate with more partners over time,” Cook stated in a CNBC interview. The company has already integrated ChatGPT into Siri, with an integration of Google Gemini reportedly underway, alongside speculation about a collaboration with Anthropic and Perplexity.
This isn’t the first instance of discussing third-party integrations, as Apple’s software SVP Craig Federighi stated last year that the company “may look forward to future integrations with varied models like Google Gemini.”
Cook also mentioned that Apple is prepared to launch an AI-enhanced Siri next year, emphasizing that “our aim is to integrate with more individuals over time.” Apple is “making significant strides” on Siri, he noted during an earnings call on Thursday, while adding that AI acquisitions remain a consideration. “We are open to pursuing M&A [mergers and acquisitions] if we believe it will propel our roadmap,” Cook remarked, echoing comments made in July.
The announcement comes as Apple reveals its fourth quarter earnings results, indicating that the company achieved a record $102.5 billion in the last few months, representing an eight percent increase compared to the same period last year.
Despite last month’s iPhone 17 release, Apple has yet to fulfill its AI objectives, which are supposed to introduce an enhanced Siri on all its devices. A recent report from Bloomberg suggested that Apple could join forces with Google to create an AI search solution for Siri. Additionally, Google CEO Sundar Pichai confirmed last year that the company is developing Gemini support for the iPhone.
Sales from the iPhone 17 series likely represent only a small fraction of Apple’s total iPhone revenue of $49.03 billion. The new range includes the iPhone Air — Apple’s slimmest device so far — as well as the enhanced iPhone 17 and 17 Pro. This year, Apple introduced some features previously exclusive to its Pro-tier iPhones to its standard model, including an always-on display with ProMotion support for smoother scrolling.
Apple’s Mac revenue climbed to $8.72 billion, while it reported $6.95 billion in revenue from iPads. The services division of Apple, which encompasses subscriptions to Apple TV, Apple Music, Apple Fitness Plus, and Apple Arcade, expanded to $28.8 billion.
Additionally, Apple has just unveiled an upgraded iPad Pro, MacBook Pro, and a Vision Pro headset, all featuring an M5 spec upgrade. Rumors are swirling that the company is gearing up to launch an affordable iPhone 17e next year, as well.
