Several months ago, NotebookLM introduced a video summary feature that employs AI to create a video recap of the content you’ve included in your notebook. The integration of Nano Banana into NotebookLM is considerably more defined. Rather than inputting prompts for image editing, NotebookLM now offers a new collection of video styles driven by Nano Banana, such as whiteboard, anime, retro print, and more. The original style continues to be available as “Classic.”

While NotebookLM’s videos remain somewhat restricted, this update introduces a second overall format. You can now select “Brief” alongside “Explainer,” with the ability to add prompts that guide the video effectively. However, this does not ensure accuracy, as it still relies on generative AI. At least the style should maintain greater consistency with the inclusion of Nano Banana.
The revised image editor will also be integrated into Google Photos, but Google has not provided a specific timeline. Google claims that its Nano Banana model is a “significant improvement” compared to its previous image-editing model. Conversational editing was incorporated into Photos last month, yet it is not the Nano Banana model that has garnered praise from testers over the summer. Google reports that Nano Banana will make its way into the Photos app within the coming weeks, which should alleviate some of the frustrations with those conversational edits.
