In what may very well be her last interview, Goodall does not hold back.
In what may very well be her last interview, Goodall does not hold back.

Over the past few years, Netflix has been discreetly accumulating episodes for a new series titled Famous Last Words, featuring interviews with renowned individuals as they approach the end of their lives. The twist is that the episodes will be broadcast only after the subject has passed away. The complete roster of interviewees remains a closely guarded secret, but last week Netflix subtly unveiled the first episode starring Jane Goodall.
The series is based on the Danish show Det Sidste Ord (The Last Word). In the Netflix adaptation, Brad Falchuk, well-known as the co-creator of American Horror Story and Glee, conducts interviews on a bare soundstage using remotely controlled cameras. In this personal setting, Falchuk often poses his questions in the past tense and reminds guests that “they are dead.”
If the episode featuring Goodall serves as an indicator, upcoming installments are likely to present frank perspectives from famous figures no longer concerned about potential public disapproval. Goodall has never been particularly reticent in expressing her thoughts, but she leaves no room for ambiguity in what seems to be her last interview:
“Indeed, there are individuals I dislike, and I would prefer to place them on one of Musk’s spacecraft and send them off to a planet he claims he will find … He’d act as the host … Together with Musk would be Trump … And then I would include Putin. And I would add President Xi. I’d definitely include Netanyahu and his far-right government. Let’s put them all on that spacecraft and launch them away.” – Jane Goodall
