You might be ready to retire that aging Mac you’ve been babied and put it out to pasture soon. Apple has scheduled an event for March 4 and, in classic Apple style, is calling it a “Special Apple Experience.” Also typically Apple, it hasn’t spelled out what it will announce. We can, however, make an educated guess.
The event begins at 9AM ET on March 4—Ars will be in New York City to cover whatever Apple unveils. Apple doesn’t follow a strict timetable for most product releases, but some recent speculation about likely hardware refreshes points us toward what to expect.
As we reported recently, Apple may soon introduce the iPhone 17e. This refreshed variant of the budget-focused iPhone is expected to include an A19 chip, similar to the processor in the base iPhone 17, and could add MagSafe charging. Don’t expect the multi-camera setup found on Apple’s pricier phones. If this model appears, its price will be crucial: the non‑Pro iPhone 16 and 17 models (including the 16e) currently sit in the $600-800 range, so another $599 budget iPhone is unlikely to move the needle.
