Supergirl teaser presents us with an endearingly flawed Kara Zor-El

We encountered Alcock’s Supergirl momentarily at the conclusion of Superman, when she appeared to retrieve her dog Krypto, still recovering from a celebration on a red-sun world. She exhibits a greater cynicism than her cousin, having endured the devastation of Krypton and the loss of all she cherished. “He perceives the good in everyone and I recognize the truth,” she states in the teaser.

Kara, known as Supergirl, is approaching her 23rd birthday and announces that it will be her best year to date, which she acknowledges is “not exactly a lofty expectation.” Despite her reservations about the future, she is determined to embrace her role as a superhero. According to the longline: “When an unexpected and merciless foe threatens her home, Kara Zor-El, aka Supergirl, reluctantly teams up with an unforeseen ally on a grand, interstellar quest for revenge and justice.”

Besides Alcock, the cast features Matthias Schoenaerts as the main antagonist Krem of the Yellow Hills; Eve Ridley as Ruthye Marye Knoll, the previously mentioned “unlikely companion” who meets and connects with Supergirl throughout the film; Ferdinand Kingsley as Ruthye’s father Elias; and David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham portraying Supergirl’s parents, Zor-El and Alura In-Ze. Jason Momoa also appears as Lobo, an alien bounty hunter from the planet Czarnia. We catch a quick, blurry glimpse of Momoa’s muscular mercenary with the luminous red eyes in the teaser. Naturally, our beloved misbehaving pup Krypto returns as well; he opens the teaser by urinating on a newspaper.

Supergirl releases in theaters on June 26, 2026.
