The Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 are discounted by $50, but only until the conclusion of Cyber Monday.

Unless you’re after an open-style clip bud, the search for high-quality workout earbuds has become trickier in recent years. Companies are diminishing their focus on them, or like Jabra, completely exiting the market as of late 2024. Thankfully, some of the best workout earbuds — the Beats Powerbeats Pro 2 — are not only still available, but received a redesign at the start of the year. For the duration of Cyber Monday, they’re discounted at Amazon, Walmart, and Best Buy for $199.95, which is $50 off, closely matching their lowest price ever.

The initial Powerbeats Pro were essential for me during my half-marathon training prior to the pandemic. The primary factor was their ear hook structure, which bends around the back of the ear, ensuring they stay put. Whether I ran on roads, tackled trails, or engaged in sprint intervals, I never once stressed about them slipping out. The Pro 2 enhancements bring a design with more flexible, robust ear hooks providing a superb fit while easily enduring rough treatment. Glasses wearers might find the hooks a bit uncomfortable, but I saw no issues once I learned the correct placement.

The Powerbeats Pro 2 also come equipped with heart rate monitoring — ahead of Apple’s latest AirPods Pro 3. For users without an Apple Watch or who prefer a chest strap, this is a convenient option, particularly since I found it relatively precise in testing. The heart rate monitors can sync with Apple Fitness (added later) and several third-party applications, functioning with both Apple and Android devices. This is a distinct advantage of the Beats brand compared to Apple.

The sound quality with the Powerbeats Pro 2 is commendable, delivering sufficient driving bass for our workout sessions. The active noise cancellation effectively manages noisy environments, and they perform well for calls, equipped with noise suppression that reduces wind disturbances.

While the carrying case included is noticeably smaller than the prior model, it remains bigger than what is offered with most contemporary earbuds, considering the space for the ear hooks. However, this version also features wireless charging, which was regrettably absent in the original Powerbeats Pro.

If you are in search of new workout earbuds, the Powerbeats Pro 2 are an excellent option, and at their Cyber Monday sale price, they offer remarkable value.
