EA has revealed significant transformations for the future of its F1 racing series. Next year, rather than releasing a new title, the company will introduce a paid expansion for F1 25 as part of “a strategic reset for the F1 Franchise,” according to EA. The next comprehensive F1 installment, a “reimagined” experience, is set for 2027.
The 2026 DLC for F1 25 will be a “premium content update” designed to “align with the sport’s major transitions for the 2026 season, offering fans new vehicles, sporting regulations, teams, and drivers,” as stated in EA’s press release. (F1 cars are slated for significant modifications next year that the DLC will likely need to incorporate.) Details regarding timing and pricing for the expansion will be shared sometime in 2026.
EA provides limited information about its intentions for the 2027 game, but claims it will offer “a highly authentic and innovative portrayal of the excitement and action of Formula 1, transformed into a broader experience with fresh ways for fans to engage worldwide.” It’s noted as “part of a multi-year strategic investment in the EA Sports F1 franchise, supported by Formula One Management and the F1 teams.”
Apple is also investing significantly in F1, having established a major multi-year agreement to stream F1 races on Apple TV in the US beginning next year.
