The latest update for Samsung’s SmartThings introduces compatibility with Siri Shortcuts. In a press release, Samsung declared that users can now utilize Siri to activate SmartThings routines, allowing integration of Apple’s voice assistant for managing your smart home.
Siri Shortcuts is a function within iOS enabling users to perform automations by requesting Siri. These can be designed by the user in the Shortcuts application or by manufacturers in their respective apps.
This update is expected to simplify the process of controlling your SmartThings setup via your iPhone, HomePod, or any Apple device. For instance, you can now request Siri to activate your “Good morning” routine through SmartThings, which can automatically modify the lighting, power on your coffee maker, and raise your blinds as you wake up.
Samsung is further enhancing its SmartThings application for Apple gadgets. On the Apple Watch, users can now view a complete list of their devices, dispatch commands, and execute routines, while the SmartThings app on iOS provides the capability to see and manage up to five of your recently accessed devices directly from your lock screen using Live Activities.
