Apple’s Clips video editing software is being discontinued. It launched in 2017 as a tool for combining videos with music, text, and filters, with a strong focus on social media sharing. Throughout the years, Apple introduced AR capabilities and more advanced editing features. However, recent updates have become infrequent.

Apple has ultimately chosen to discontinue the app, removing Clips from the App Store. The company also modified its support page to clearly indicate that “the Clips app is no longer being updated, and will no longer be available for download for new users as of October 10, 2025.” If you have already installed the app, you can continue using it on iOS and iPadOS. However, it may also be wise to directly save any videos to your Photos library. The support page details exactly how to do this, both with and without effects, to ensure you don’t lose your videos if Clips stops functioning due to an OS update.
