Billionaire Elon Musk and Prince Andrew have been cited in newly released documents from Congressional Democrats related to the late convicted sex offender and financier Jeffrey Epstein.
The information provided to the House Oversight Committee by the Jeffrey Epstein Estate seems to indicate that Musk received an invitation to Epstein’s island in December 2014.
Additionally, a flight manifest from New Jersey to Florida dated May 2000 lists Prince Andrew among the individuals onboard.
Both Musk and Prince Andrew have been contacted for their responses.
Prince Andrew has previously categorically denied any misconduct. Musk has been reported as stating that Epstein had invited him to the island, which he turned down.
These partial records are part of the third set of documents released by the Jeffrey Epstein Estate. Democrats on the House Oversight Committee assert that they contain phone message logs, flight logs and manifests, financial records, and Epstein’s daily agenda.
Alongside Musk and Prince Andrew, the publicly released files also include the names of notable individuals such as internet entrepreneur Peter Thiel and Steve Bannon, a former advisor to Donald Trump.
One entry from the records dated 6 December 2014 states: “Reminder: Elon Musk to island Dec. 6 (is this still happening?)”
A flight manifest indicates that Prince Andrew was aboard a flight with Epstein and his associate Ghislaine Maxwell from Teterboro, New Jersey, to West Palm Beach, Florida, on 12 May 2000. Maxwell was found guilty in 2021 for her role in conspiring with Epstein to traffic girls for sexual purposes.
On 11 May 2000, Buckingham Palace announced on its website that Prince Andrew had traveled to New York to participate in a reception for the National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. Andrew returned to the UK on 15 May, as indicated by a later entry.
The files also contain a note about a scheduled lunch with Peter Thiel in November 2017.
An entry regarding a planned breakfast with Steve Bannon on 17 February 2019 is also present.
Furthermore, there are references to tentative arrangements for a breakfast gathering with Microsoft founder Bill Gates in December 2014. Gates stated to the BBC in 2022 that meeting Jeffrey Epstein was a “mistake.”
It is important to note that none of the individuals mentioned in the files are suggested to have been aware of the alleged criminal activities for which Epstein was arrested subsequently.
Epstein died by suicide in a New York jail cell in August 2019 while awaiting trial for sex trafficking charges.
In 2008, he reached a plea agreement with prosecutors following reports from the parents of a 14-year-old girl who claimed he had molested her at his Palm Beach residence.
He was apprehended again in July 2019 on charges of sex trafficking.
Sara Guerrero, a representative for the Democrats on the committee, called on Attorney General Pam Bondi to release additional files related to Epstein.
“It should be evident to every American that Jeffrey Epstein was connected to some of the most powerful and affluent individuals globally. Each new document sheds light as we aim to seek justice for the survivors and victims,” she stated.
Republicans on the committee accused the Democrats of prioritizing politics over victims and stated that they would make the complete set of documents available soon.
