NBC Sports Network is set to return this autumn, with Peacock collaborating with YouTube Primetime Channels.

On Thursday afternoon, after agreeing to a brief extension during continued discussions, NBCUniversal and YouTube announced a fresh carriage agreement to keep the network’s channels operational on the streaming platform. If this scenario sounds familiar, it’s because the same circumstances occurred during their last contract renewal in 2021.
While the financial details remain undisclosed, a press statement indicates that it encompasses an agreement for various complete TV shows, clips, and highlights featured on standard YouTube, along with the confirmation of the NBC Sports Network (NBCSN) revival following its closure four years prior.
“We’ve guaranteed ongoing access to our entire suite of broadcast and cable networks on YouTube TV, and we’re enhancing our Peacock strategy with an imminent launch on YouTube Primetime Channels as well as maintaining a presence on Google TV,” stated NBCUniversal executive Matt Schnaars.
The specifics unveiled today are:
- A long-term, multi-year agreement for the broadcast of NBCUniversal’s full range of networks on YouTube TV, including NBC, Telemundo, Bravo, CNBC, Golf Channel, E!, Oxygen True Crime, MSNBC, USA, Syfy, and Universo
- This fall, NBCUniversal will introduce the new NBC Sports Network (NBCSN), which will be accessible on YouTube TV, enabling fans to relish a wide variety of NBCUniversal’s sports offerings. NBCSN will enhance the prominent sporting events showcased year-round on the NBC broadcast network
- Peacock will be introduced in the upcoming months as a subscription option through YouTube Primetime Channels
- A long-term agreement surrounding short-form clips, highlights, and shows extracted from NBCUniversal’s premium content on YouTube
- Films and TV content from Universal Pictures Home Entertainment will remain purchasable or rentable on Google TV, YouTube TV, and YouTube, alongside classic movies from NBCUniversal Global TV Distribution streaming via SVOD on YouTube Premium and AVOD through YouTube Free Primetime Content
- A multi-year renewal of Peacock’s presence across Google’s Android platforms, such as Google Play and Google TV
As Awful Announcing highlights, although NBCUniversal has been acquiring sports broadcasting rights for Peacock, the relaunch of the NBCSN channel could enable revenue generation from viewers who opt not to subscribe to Peacock after it spins off its other cable networks with Versant.
